The Best Daycare

Petits Poussins LLC was founded by Vanessa Handal-Ghenania, a certified Bilingual Education teacher and school administrator, and mother of three young boys. Petits Poussins LLC is a BilingualFrench Group Family Daycare. We offer half-day and full-day care for children 6 weeks old and above. Our multicultural trained team provides care and education in French in the morning and English in the afternoon. We offer educational programs which include music, art, dance, singing, reading, and writing throughout the day. We accept children on a full-time and part-time basis, throughout the year, on a first come and rolling basis. At Petits Poussins we understand parents and are very flexible with their schedules. Parents can register children for specific days of the week or half-days. We are open throughout the year from 8am to 6pm.

Our team at Petits Poussins is trained on an on-going basis. Each and every caregiver is trained and CPR/First Aid certified by the American Red Cross. We go on and beyond the Daycare requirements as we are also MAT (Medication Administration Training) certified.

Our Teaching Philosophy

At Petits Poussins, our children learn and play in the classroom at different learning centers. They build vocabulary by playing and interacting with each other. We have several centers: kitchen, puzzles, workbench with tools, cars and trucks, blocks/Lego’s for all ages, library, dolls and figures. All our activities are done at a level that is appropriate to the child’s developmental stage. At Petits Poussins, learning takes place in various ways: reading, singing, and drawing. We value all our children’s “Multiple Intelligences” and help them learn in the best environment suitable for them. Learning is individualized according to each child’s need. At Petits Poussins, we focus on community building. We teach our children how to share and how to ask for things politely. We learn how to get to know each other by knowing about things each child likes and likes to do. We learn about our differences and learn to value and respect them. At Petits Poussins, we teach through Positive Reinforcement. We continuously encourage and applaud our children for all their achievements. Our children are taught to problem solve by themselves in order to become more independent. Finally, our staff serves as role models by continuously showing appropriate behavior among each other.

our activities

activities

Circle Time

Every morning, after breakfast, our children sit in a circle to greet each other and talk about the day ahead. During that time, we talk about the day, the weather and the activities we will be doing together. We start by singing our “Petits Poussins” song in French and finish with a read-aloud. The circle is repeated in the afternoon, in English, after naptime, for the second portion of the day.

activities

Music Class

During our music workshops, conducted in French in the morning and English in the afternoon, our children learn how to experiment with different instruments. Whether it is inside the daycare or outdoors during the summer, students discover the flute, the drums, the xylophone, amongst many other instruments. Additionally, as part of our daily routines, our children learn French songs “comptines” and “sing along” songs in English.

activities

Arts

Our Arts program is integrated with reading and writing activities. We continuously learn how to identify the alphabet and the numbers in both languages through song and arts. Children learn how to draw, paint, glue, cut, according to their developmental stage. Out arts program is themed based according to the seasons and holidays we celebrate. Oftentimes our children listened to stories told with the same theme as the art project.

activities

Yoga

Our Arts and Music teacher, Tessa, is a well experienced Yoga practitioner. Tessa started practicing Vinyiasa and Ashtanga since the age of 12. She has taught many positions to her 2 year-old daughter and is now doing small yoga moves with the children at Petits Poussins, who LOVE yoga time! This calming and entertaining part of our program is a favorite among our children.

activities

Cooking

Once a week, our children work on a new recipe. We bake or cook what we will eat at lunch. Our children learn how to make pies, quiche, cookies, salads, among other “yummy” dishes. We have a wonderful time learning about ingredients in French and an even better time tasting them!
